DC lauds Puja committees for their effort; NIT Silchar wins prize for celebrating plastic-free Durga Puja

A prize distribution ceremony on Durga puja festival, 2019 was organised by District Administration Cachar at District library auditorium today, where all the puja Committees were invited by the administration.

In her welcome speech Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Laya Madduri said that the 2019 Durga Puja has been a special one for the way people have participated in the celebration peacefully and also for the introduction of the measures to check river pollution.

Addressing a gathering at the prize distribution ceremony of Durga Puja festivities, Deputy Commissioner said if the stakeholders work in cohesion and within a better plan, the efforts can minimise river pollution to a great extent in the coming days. She congratulated the puja committees for adhering to the guidelines of pollution control and waste management and also said that further measures to check pollution would be taken up as well.

A powerpoint presentation was made by SLRM expert C.Srinivasan, where he mentioned that a total of 5511kilograms of inorganic materials have been recovered during festive days from different puja pandals including kitchen wastes and out of which 840 kilograms of vegetable waste had been fed to the cattle at Goshala.

Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, former central minister Kabindra Purkaystha also spoke during the occasion.

1.National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durga Puja Committee.
2.Mitali Sangha puja Committee,Bilpar.

Awareness:
1. Meherpur Sarbojonin Sankuntala Duga Puja Committee.
2. Athal basti durga puja Committee.

Last clean puja pandal:
1. post office Durga puja Committee.
2.S.S rice mill Durga puja Committee, Sibbari road, Tarapur.
