DC Laya Madduri takes stock of development works in Sonai
As a part of her schedule visits across the constituencies of Cachar district, deputy commissioner Laya Madduri visited Sonai constituency on Thursday and took stock of development activities.
During her visit, Madduri went to the Sonai circle office and inspected the funtioning of the office. She also attended a public meeting and interacted with prominent citizens of the locality and heard their views and grievences regarding pace of the government schemes.
She assured that necessary steps would be taken to resolve the issues. The deputy commissioner was apprised of various problems in the constituency including garbage disposal, threat posed by large-scale erosion, poor condition of Amjurghat sluice-gate and issues related to water supply and power supply.
She was also informed about the necessity of a cold storage and about the immient requirement of improving the approach of Sonai Duniar bridge. Besides, she was informed about the lavatory issues at the circle office together with difficulties in the drinking water supply at the office.
Later, the deputy commissioner visited Sundari GP of the constituency and inaugurated an ATM-based water supply project in presence of MLA Aminul Haque Laskar. The water plant has been constructed from the MLA untied fund for the year 2017-18. Madduri also accompanied the MLA in laying the foundation stone for an additional classroom building at Ramdulal High School, which would be constructed using Rs 25 lakh from MLA untied fund.
Aminul Haque Laskar said that he would assist the school with another fund of Rs 2 lakh for construction of toilets for girl students in the school and committed to construct a cycle shed in the school premises.
