Dead body of a newborn found abandoned in Meherpur
Third such case in the last six months. Yet another newborn left abandoned out under the sun for it to decay and decompose. Today morning at around 9:30 AM a pedestrian walking near Nightingale hospital saw the baby boy lying dead within trash near the culvert.
“It was a horrific view. Being a lady, a mother myself I cannot imagine someone doing this. This is inhumane and the culprits must be punished,” said a lady who saw the baby lying there.
The Police was informed and they came and recovered the body from the trash.
In August this year, a similar incident shocked the entire valley. On the way to Assam University, near Mithapani area, the dead body of a newborn baby was found in the middle of the road packed in a carton, mostly used to deliver groceries to home.
In October 2019, a newborn was left dead in the Silchar Railway Station yard and the case was handed over to GRP Silchar.
Station Master Biplob Das had informed, “The baby was reportedly a few hours or day old and its umbilical cord was still uncut.”
