Dead body of a young man recovered from Barak river two days after he went missing

The body of a young man was mysteriously found in Sadarghat area of ​​Silchar on the Barak River this morning. The deceased was identified as Ritam Paul, a resident of Kanakpur Shyama Nanda Lane in Silchar. Ritam Paul had been missing since Sunday evening. The deceased’s family lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari police station on Sunday night. The deceased’s body was found in the Sadarghat area of Barak River two days later by the locals.

The deceased’s family members rushed to the scene and identified the dead body. Police recovered the body and sent it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. They have also started investigating the case.

Speaking to reporters the father of Ritam Paul said, “Last Sunday he came to home and parked his scooty. He told his mother that he was going out for sometime. He went out at 8 pm and disappeared completely. We later lodged an FIR at the Police Station. We got news about an unidentified dead body floating on Barak river and accordingly we identified him as Ritam.”
