Dead body of newborn child recovered from Udharbond pond

The dead body of a newborn child was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a pond at Urang Bosti under Udharbond constituency in Cachar district on Sunday.

According to sources, local residents saw the body floating in the pond around 10am on Sunday morning at Urang Bosti, near Ghungoorbond, around 25km from Silchar.

The news spread like wildfire with people gathering in huge numbers at the spot. The matter was informed to Udharbond police station following which a team of police reached the spot.

The dead body was thereafter recovered and taken to the police station. Eventually, the body was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, sources said.

Police sources said the age of the deceased was around three to four months.
