Dead body of Silchar's Ashok Roy Choudhury found inside locked toilet of a train in Karnataka; Police suspects heart attack

Silchar-based banker deployed in Shivamogga (Shimoga) of Karnataka, Ashok Roy Choudhury has been missing since yesterday. Today, the Shivamogga Railway Police Station declared him dead.

The Officer in Charge of the investigation spoke with Barak Bulletin and informed that the dead body of Ashok Roy Choudhury has been recovered from a locked toilet inside the 16579, Yeshvantpur – Shivamogga (Shimoga) Intercity Express Train.

“The train leaves from Shimoga for Yeshvantpur at 3:30 pm. Before the train was supposed to leave today, the cleaning staff were doing their routine duty and that is when they spotted that a toilet has been locked from inside. The staff informed the station master and following the procedure they broke open the toilet door. After that, we recovered the dead body of the missing gentleman. He has been identified as Ashok Roy Choudhury and the family has been informed about the same,” said the officer.

The officer added, “We will now send the body for post-mortem.” When asked about the suspected cause of death, the officer responded, “We are suspecting it to be a relapse of a heart attack. After talking to his colleagues and friends, we got to know that he has recently suffered a heart attack. It seems, he went inside the toilet yesterday on his way to Yesvantpur and sat down on the pot following which, he encountered another heart attack. However, further details can be revealed after investigation.”

Ashok Roy Choudhury, employed with Union Bank of India in Shimoga, Karnataka was on his way to Yesvantpur Railway Station where his wife, Anushka Chakraborty was waiting for him. While the train reached the destination, Roy Choudhury wasn’t one of the passengers to deboard the train. Following which, his wife Anushka Chakraborty lodged a complaint, and the Police started the investigation.

If sources are to be believed, his mobile phone was traced down to a residential area. If he died on the shit pot, inside the locked toilet of a compartment, how did the mobile phone trigger signals from a residential area away from the track? Moreover, the train with capacity passengers went all the way from source to destination and returned to the source with a toilet locked throughout without irking the passengers, is another mystery.

Ashok Roy Choudhury hails from Silchar and is a resident of National Highway. How the investigation in this case, progresses, and if the mysteries are addressed, remains to be seen.
