Deadline for NRC hearing process is June 15th; more than 88 percent BME still pending
In Cachar district, 2,09,193 persons submitted claim for including their names in the list of National Register of Citizens . Out of these claimants, biometric enrollment (BME) of 23,299 claimants has so far been completed. District Administration is trying to expedite the process to avoid last moment rush.
Bio-metric enrolment is mandatory for all the claimants to complete claim hearing process. This information was shared with the media-persons by Laya Madduri, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar at a press meet held at her conference hall here on Thursday.
The deadline for completion of hearing process is June 15th. To facilitate claimants, provision is made for getting BME done at the nearest BME enrolment center. Claimants can contact their NSK (LRCR, BLOs, FLOs) to know about their nearest enrolment center or call on helpline numbers given below. Claimants need to bring their call letter with photographs and any other photo identity card with address like pan card, EPIC card etc for completing the BME process.
