In a deadly incident in a shopping mall on Thursday, a man attacked his sister-in-law with a knife, leaving her injured. The incident happened yesterday in the morning at Goldighi Mall, Premtala, where the victim works in a clothing shop Sanvi Boutique. The woman, Husna Begum Laskar is currently undergoing treatment in Silchar Medical College.

The attacker has been identified as Islam Uddin. As per eyewitnesses, he appeared in the boutique and wanted to take Husna Begam Laskar along with him but she refused. This resulted into a massive quarrel between them when Islam Uddin picked up a scissors lying on the shop and stabbed her stomach and leg.

Husna immediately fell on the ground bleeding profusely from her wounds. On hearing the squabble, people rushed inside and tried to get hold of Islam Uddin. Realising that he will be caught, he tried to flee the scene by jumping from the second floor of the mall, and injured himself in the process. He was finally handed over to the Police by the people. In the meantime, an ambulance arrived, which took the victim to the hospital. Her condition seems to be stable now.

At the time of incidence, the owner of the shop Khushbu Yadav Seth was not present, but another female employee was present at the shop.

Islam Uddin resides in the Ghaniyala region of Malugram. He has a tailoring shop there, where Husna used to work before joining the Boutique in Goldighi Mall. Husna Begum’s is said to be from Srikoni area but she has been staying in a rented house at Chamargagudam adjacent to the city.

While the real motive behind the attack is yet to be known, in his first statement, Islam Uddin confessed that he got financially affected after Husna left his tailoring shop. He told police that he came to the boutique to request her to come back and when she did not relent, he attacked her in anger. Sanvi Boutique has also filed a complaint with Sadar Police Station against Islam.
