Decorators from Nabadwip will revive the years gone by in Medical Representatives' Puja

The All Medical Sales People Durga Puja Committee, one of the popular puja committees in Silchar, is all set to resurrect the magical moments of its last nine years and welcome Maa Durga in a unique way this year.

Interacting with media persons on Tuesday, the committee’s secretary Mithun Roy said the committee, which will step into its ninth year, has come with an idea to present the pandal with the elements of the past nine years. It will be like a “collection of memories”, he said.

The pandal, which is being decorated by Tapash Decorators from Nabadwip, will be made of items like pencil dust, tree leaves, match-box sticks and ice-cream sticks among others that were used in the past nine years. The idol is being prepared by local artisans Sagar Roy, Biswajit Dutta and few others, while Bipul Nath is in charge of the light arrangement, he said.

Prasad will be distributed on Ashtami and Navami. The total budget is around Rs. 7-8 lakh, he shared, adding – “We have always received an overwhelming response from citizens here. We are hopeful that we will get the same love and support this year as well.”
He also mentioned that they would organise a cloth distribution programme near the pandal venue on October 16 (Saptami) morning.
