Deputy Speaker of Assam Aminul Haque Laskar visits Plasma donors' home, washes their feet; says "I am indebted."

Coronavirus survivor Aminul Haque Laskar has started visiting plasma donors’ house personally from today. The deputy speaker of Assam and Sonai MLA says he will felicitate each and every Plasma donor in Cachar by washing their feet with his own hands.

Today, Laskar visited the house of plasma donor Nabidul Islam Laskar in Kanakpur part – I, and felicitated him with a memento. After that, the Deputy Speaker washed the plasma donor’s feet. Laskar said, “I managed to survive and fight COVID19 because someone agreed to donate plasma. I am indebted to all the plasma donors and this is why I have decided to personally visit them and wash their feet.”

Donor Nabidul Islam was overwhelmed by the deputy speaker’s surprise visit. “I am grateful to the honourable MLA for this amazing gesture. This is inspirational and I am sure he will inspire many other survivors to donate plasma after recovery,” he said.

While admitted to the Hospital, Aminul Haque Laskar was the first patient in Barak Valley to receive plasma therapy. The 200 ML unit is infused to patients with serious symptoms, “It has been proven that Plasma therapy works wonder and that is why I urge people who have recovered to donate plasma and save lives,” appealed Laskar.

There is a Plasma Therapy Unit in Silchar Medical College and Hospital and so far, 11 donors have donated Plasma at SMCH. Out of them, most are junior doctors practicing at the hospital. Symptomatic patients can donate plasma after 28 days of detection if their hemoglobin is more than 12.5. One donor can save two lives. “All the recipients of plasma will remain indebted to the donors for life,” concluded Laskar.
