DGP Assam urges OCs, Police stations to inculcate local networks create actionable intel, locally

Director General of Police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta lauded the efforts of Nalbari and Ghagrapar Police Stations. In a series of tweets, the DGP congratulated the Officer-in-charge of the two Police Stations and other officials for the ambush at Nalbari.

He wrote, “Today’s ambush at Nalbari, planned and executed by the Nalbari and Ghagrapar thanas is a significant development, a Game Changer.” He explained, “Why I consider it so? Because I always encouraged OCs and Thanas to generate their own intel, own network without any intervention from senior brass. The Nalbari and Ghagrapar OCs did just that. They generated their own intel, planned their own operation and executed it.” One vehicle, gun, ammunitions were also seized from the location of encounter.

The officials of the two Police stations launched an operation against a gang of cattle thieves, drug dealers and other criminal elements. As a part of the operation, the police officials ambushed the cartel and the criminal elements shot at the Police team while fleeing.

“Police retaliated, three from the gang received bullet injuries and were apprehended. Search for other 3 is still on. The kingpin Abu Bakkar Siddiqui who’s a wanted criminal on charge of cattle smuggling, drug trade and other crimes is among the nabbed, informed DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.

“I congratulate the teams from Nalbari and Ghagrapar Police stations for this operation. And call upon each and every Police stations to emulate… inculcate local networks and create actionable intel, locally,” the DGP concluded.
