Dholai: Cachar Police Nabs Duo From Mizoram with 947 Grams of Fake Gold

Cachar Police on Saturday (March 29), nabbed two individuals in Dholai for allegedly attempting to sell fake gold. The duo was caught in Rangawati village, behind Bhaga Bazar, while reportedly looking for a buyer.

On Saturday evening, Cachar Police received information about two persons loitering suspiciously in Rangawati village with fake gold, possibly intending to make a deal. Acting on this tip-off, a police team swiftly intervened and apprehended the suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thanghminga (43), son of T. Hela, from Thuampui-Part, Bawangkawn, Aizawl district, Mizoram, and Lalnunpuii (40), daughter of Vlhruia, from Zemapawk, Bawangkawn, Aizawl district, Mizoram.

During a physical search, police recovered six pieces of suspected fake gold biscuits, weighing a total of 947 grams, from their possession. Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted that they had come to Rangawati village, Dholai, to sell the fake gold as part of their business.

A registered jeweller from Dholai Market later conducted a preliminary test and confirmed that the gold was fake. Further investigation is underway.
