Dholai Police confiscates huge quantities of Burmese supari from a van, two smugglers arrested
Last night in an operation, the Dholai Police confiscated huge quantities of Burmese Supari loaded in a Van. The patrol party of the Dholai Police has recovered this huge quantity of illegal areca. Two persons were also apprehended by the police in this connection.
During a patrol operation, the Dholai Police apprehended the Omni E Van which was loaded with sacks of Burmese areca. 10 sacks of Burmese areca were confiscated from that vehicle bearing registration number AS 01A 0481.
The two individuals apprehended in this connection are Mustafa Ahmed, a 20-year-old, Karimganj resident and Safique Rahman, a 34-year-old resident from Cachar. The police have further initiated an investigation process into the matter. The illegal Burmese supari circuit is increasingly increasing in the district and Cachar is becoming a safe corridor for illegal substances including narcotic substances, drugs and Burmese areca.
