Dholai police seizes vehicle in Cachar carrying illegal urea fertiliser to Mizoram, one arrested
A huge amount of urea fertiliser was found by the Dholai police yesterday. Fertilisers allocated to the farmers of the state are being transported illegally to Mizoram and Myanmar. One such vehicle was confiscated by the Police yesterday evening where around 80 sacks of fertilisers were seized, and one man was also arrested.
Acting on a secret intel, the Dholai Police got hold of a pickup truck with registration number AS 11EC 0679.
As per sources, he could not produce the legal documents of the vehicle upon asked. The police has been interrogating him but are yet to find any more details. However, they have started the proceedings regarding the investigation.
Subsidised fertilisers are smuggled and then sold at high prices in other states or even to the farmers in Barak Valley. Urea fertiliser is one of the most common fertilisers used by the farmers. It is the source of Nitrogen that is very essential for healthy production of plants. It’s low price is another reason for its popularity among farmers.
