Director, I & PR interacts with media persons in Hailakandi

Director, Information and Public Relations, Rajib Prakash Baruah visited the Office of the District Information and Public Relations in Hailakandi today.

On his maiden visit to Hailakandi, Baruah met the members of the print and electronic media and interacted with them on a gamut of issues from recognition card to advertisement.

Baruah assured the editors of the three weeklies published from Hailakandi district that they would get regular advertisements from the directorate.

The editors, while thanking the Director of issuing advertisements from time to time, requested him to release the outstanding dues. On their plea, the Director assured them that he would release the payment soon.

Baruah said the mediapersons of the district would get the recognition card once the application forms in prescribed format are endorsed by the district level accreditation/recognition committee. It may be mentioned that the process is on to reconstitute the committee, with Deputy Commissioner, Adil Khan giving the go-ahead to the proposal submitted by member secretary of the committee.

The employees of DIPRO apprised the Director about the need to cover the entire municipal areas of Hailakandi town through fixed loud speaker system, as presently only  some areas are covered. Baruah said loudspeakers and other accessories would be procured this year and distributed to the districts.

Later, the Director met the Deputy Commissioner at his office chamber and apprised him about the various initiatives of the present government relating to media.

Baruah was accompanied by his wife.

The Director, who is on a two-day visit to the Barak Valley, headed to Karimganj in the afternoon. He met the mediapersons of Cachar district yesterday.
