"Do not panic, doing everything to keep coronavirus out of Barak Valley," DC Barnali Sharma
Cachar Deputy Commissioner Barnali Sharma, on Wednesday confirmed the deputation of Doctors and paramedics at Silchar airport for screening Corona affected passengers, citing government’s instruction.
“We have been asked by the government to take precautionary measures at airport because it is a hub of travellers where people from different regions and countries arrive” DC said in a media briefing, adding that there is nothing to panic.
“We have an 8 bedded isolation ward at Silchar Medical College where 24*7 doctors are available along with all the logistics which are required to transport patients. People should not panic as we are doing level best to keep the district shielded from the virus.” DC added.
During the meeting, Joint Director of Health services and a team from National health Mission were also present who informed that the screening counter at Silchar airport will continue for next 10 days and extension of which resorts to higher authority orders.
District administration has also opened helpline numbers where any doubts related to the issue can be clarified. Numbers are 6913347770/1/2/3.
It can be mentioned here that Corona Virus is a new virus identified in China’s Wuham province last December. Corona is a large group of viruses which can infect both human and animals with cold related diseases. So far no known treatment is available for this virus. Indian Government has recently evacuated all its nationals who were stranded in China’s Wuhan and advised people to refrain from travelling to China.
