"Do not spread rumours about shortage of Oxygen in Barak Valley," MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy; Provides status

Member of Parliament and an Orthopeadic Surgeon, Dr. Rajdeep Roy has urged the people to stop spreading rumour about shortage of Oxygen in Barak Valley. Couple of days back, Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma had provided details about stock and storage of Oxygen in the state, today, Dr. Rajdeep Roy has done the same through a Facebook post.

Stating “Basic Facts regarding Oxygen Status in Cachar/SMCH as on April 28, 2021“ MP Rajdeep Roy posted on Facebook – “Gross requirement of Oxygen in Silchar Medical College & Hospital is 2000 ltr per day.”

Sharing details about the current status of stock and storage, MP Roy added, “LIQUID MEDICAL OXYGEN (LMO): At present installed in the Silchar Medical College which has 2 tanks and holds the capacity of 20,000 ltr in each tank summing up to 40,000 ltr in total.”

He added that there are 192 numbers of B-type Oxygen Cylinders available for emergency use. It is worth mentioning here that B-type high-pressure seamless cylinder for Medical Oxygen gas, are ISI marked conforming to IS:7285 part 2, certified by the Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) and approved by the chief controller of explosive (CCOE) Government of India. These Cylinders made from Manganese Steel.

Dr. Roy added that details about Oxygen Generator too in his post. He shared, “This is a self Generating oxygen unit that is also installed in Silchar Medical College and Hospital with 2 machines having the capacity to generate 500 ltr per minute summing up to 1000 ltr per minute in total. The functioning of this plant will start from May 2, 2021.”

He informed that one more Oxygen Generator Plant has been sanctioned by the Govt which will also produce 1000 ltr per minute after installation. There are more than 100 Oxygen concentrators, he stated.

After sharing the technical details about the stock, he wrote, “Please do not spread rumours about shortage of Oxygen supply in Barak Valley.”
