Doors open for people with faith in Mother India, says PM Modi at Assam rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday touched the nerve of the people of Barak Valley and Assam at large, worried over the fate of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016. He said “do we need to check the colour of the passport of the victims across the globe, who have faith in Mother India. Are we not connected by blood,” with clear hints on the intent of the Government to drive home the widely debated Bill.

Addressing a colossal gathering of people at the Vijay Sankalp Rally at Ramnagar hosted by the three district units of the BJP in Barak valley, the Prime Minister said, “India will always keep its doors open for people across the globe who seek to come here being victims of hatred and displacement.”

Further, making the intent clear on the stance of the Government in clearing the Bill, the Prime Minister said that steps are being taken to uphold the pride of Assam and the correct implementation will ensure that no genuine Indian citizen would be harassed any further. He also claimed that measures are being initiated to implement Clause 6 of the historic Assam Accord.
