Dr. Dibanath Chakraborty performs brain tumor surgery at Silchar Green Heals Hospital

A wise man once said, ‘Where there is a will there’s a way’ another abled man proved it  in Silchar. Dr. Dibanath Chakraborty MS – General Surgery, MCh – Neuro Surgery, visiting doctor in Green Heals Hospital Silchar performed a complicated brain tumor surgery successfully in the nursing home at Meherpur. As per the hospital authority, such surgery was never performed before in Silchar.

Managing director of Green Heals Hospital, Rudranarayan Gupta recognised the successful completion of the surgery as a “moment of pride”. He said, “Doctor Chakraborty and his team which included Dr. PR Bishnu and Dr. Abhijit Das showed the courage to perform the complicated surgery. As a result of which a massive brain tumor was successfully removed from a woman’s brain. This is an exceptional achievement considering the limited resources available here.”

Resident of Narshingpur area, 40 year old Bijuli Nath visited Dr. Chakraborty with complaints of severe headache, vomiting and vision deficiency, After performing a few tests, the doctor found out that the reason behind Nath’s headache is a brain tumor. “I asked her husband if he will be able to see me in Bangalore as this surgery needs advanced facilities, or he wants to give it a try here in Silchar. Her husband was quite clear that he would never be able to take her to Bangalore due to financial problems and thus requested me to do whatever I could here in Silchar itself, this is how it started,” recalls, Dr. Dibanath Chakraborty.

It took seven hours for the team of doctors to perform the complicated surgery.
