Drunk at work: Cachar School Inspector places Stenographer under suspension

A video has gone viral on social media where it is seen that an employee at the Office of School Inspector, is holding a Bisleri bottle with Alcohol like liquid inside. There is a conversation that was also recorded. The employee has been identified as Bipra Raj Paul, Stenographer, Office of the Inspector of Schools.

The members of ABVP had gone to the Office of the School Inspector to collect some data and that is when they noticed that the official inside the premises of the Office of the Inspector of Schools was carrying a bottle filled with alcohol. Kisholoy Chakraborty Silchar city Secretary & NEC member, Rohit Chanda Joint Sec Silchar City and State Executive Member ABVP Assam Pradesh, Snehal Chakraborty Agitation In charge Silchar City, Tushar Ghosh GC College unit Secretary were present in the office of the School Inspector and when they noticed the activity, they filmed it.

“This is an institution that is treated as a temple and we would never want people to do such activities inside the temple. So, when we met the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, we brought this to her notice and she has assured us that immediate action will be taken against the official, irrespective of his stature,” said Kisholoy Chakraborty.

Barak Bulletin has got access to an order signed on July 7 which states, “Sri Bipra Raj Paul, Stenographer of Office of the Inspector of Schools, Cachar is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect as per provision of the Rule 6(1) (a) of the Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964 read with Article 311 of the Constitution of India, pending drawl of departmental Proceeding. He is allowed to get substantive allowances as per rule.”

 

“Few days back, an incident has been witnessed where an employee of the Inspector Of School office has created havoc nuisance, which was noted to the concern of very civilians. If and so, further uncivilised behaviour in an education infrastructure can’t be tolerated as if this can deliver wrongly taught socialisation among the every students. And if noted, ABVP shall firmly be against to such nuisance through the mean of huge agitation,” Rohit Chanda, State Executive Member ABVP Assam Pradesh.

While the order does not mention the exact cause of suspension but mentions broader “Discipline and Appeal” it is widely believed that Paul has been placed under suspension for the video that shows him drunk at work and also with possession of Alcohol. The letter has been signed by Semina YA Rahman, Inspector of Schools, CDC, Silchar.
