Facebook marks Himanta Biswa Sarma's post alleging Ajmal supporters raised Pakistan Zindabad slogans as "False"

On November 6, a viral video surfaced on the internet where alleged slogans of ” Pakistan Zindabaad ” was raised by the cadres of AIUDF while welcoming AIUDF supremo Baddar Uddin Ajmal.

Immediately after the video surfaced on the internet, the Member of Parliament from Silchar Loksabha Constituency,Dr. Rajdeep Roy posted a video dubbing the the followers of Badar Uddin Ajmal as “Anti -nationals” and demanded for the resignation from Badar uddin Ajmal. He further took to Twitter saying -“Pakistan zindabad” at #Silchar airport !!
Unbelievable !! #AIUDF supreme @BadruddinAjmal should immediately resign as MP ! @AmitShah @narendramodi @himantabiswa @sarbanandsonwal @RanjeetkrDass

Dr. Rajdeep Roy went on to file an FIR at Silchar Sadar Police Station alleging that Badar Uddin Ajmal is responsible for such ‘Anti national activities ‘.

The outrage against the slogan appeared to be orchestrated and highly organised when the entire cabal of BJP leadership and the other Right Wing organisations associated with the BJP started fanning the entire controversy.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma posted the following on his official Twitter and Facebook handle – “Look at the brazenness of these fundamentalists anti-national people who are shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD while they welcome MP Ajmal.
This thoroughly exposes Indian National Congress which is encouraging such forces by forging an alliance. We shall fight them tooth & nail. Jai Hind”

Dilip Paul, MLA of Silchar Vidhansabha constituency, passed a bizarre comment alleging that such slogans show the true nature of “sons of Babar “. Dilip Paul went to the extent of saying that they deserve to be treated in ‘North Korean or Chinese way ‘.

The controversy picked up such great momentum that the IT Cell Chief of BJP Amit Malviya tweeted on the controversy alleging that ” Pakistan Zindabaad” slogans was raised for someone with whom “Congress wants to desperately to ally with “.

Within a span of couple of hours, all the major regional news channels and the national media outlets were running bulletins on the same controversy. It is worthy to point out that, barring a few channels, almost all the channels were making the assertion that such slogans were actually raised.

After the initial hysteria around the incident dampened, the truth behind the incident rekindled the debate around the vicious power of fake news and misleading information.

Alt News, an independent fact checking website, was the first body to call out the entire BJP machinery for peddling outright lies and propaganda around the controversy. According to the Alt News, “Pakistan Zindabaad” slogan was never raised in the video and it was a purposeful distortion of the slogan “Aziz Khan Zindabaad “.

BJP was left completely red faced and embarrassed when the largest social media website Facebook marked Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma’s post as ” FAKE INFORMATION “.

It is interesting to point out that social media handles of news outlets like CNN-IBN, TIMES NOW, REPUBLIC TV, etc has removed their posts on the particular issue after realising their egregious fault.

While the authenticity of the allegations raised by the BJP is under serious scanner, it is bizarre to see the local Silchar District BJP unit hoisting a protest against the incident today.

We leave it our subscribers to decide on the reasons why such a controversy was whipped up without any fact-check or a conclusive report by any investigative agency. The brouhaha around such a false crisis can only be a peephole to the nature of the Assembly Elections scheduled to be held next year.
