Fake notes worth Rs 88,000, 500 yaba tablets seized in Udharbond from a taxi registered in Tripura

A huge consignment of fake notes along with narcotic tablets has been apprehended by Assam Police today in Udharbond. A man has also been arrested in that connection, who allegedly is the peddler. These illegal items were being transferred using a taxi registered with the neighbouring state, Tripura.

Fake notes, amounting up to rupees 88 thousand along with 500 narcotic yaba tablets were being smuggled, hidden in an Ambassador Taxi. Based on a secret intel, the Cachar Police has today apprehended this taxi and recovered this huge consignment of illegal items. Along with that, the driver of the car, Firoz Ahmed Laskar has also been arrested.

The white Ambassador taxi bearing the number TR 01X 0553 has also been seized by the police. In that consignment, other than yaba tablets, 26 two thousand rupees notes and 72 five hundred rupees notes were also found. The Police is interrogating Firoz Ahmed to unfold the developments and his circuit.

Firoz Ahmed Laskar has denied him being the drug peddler here, he rather said, “This morning I had a hired drive to the airport, a passenger approached me to take to the airport and he has a flight to catch. Accordingly, he sat in my taxi and I was driving him to the airport. But suddenly he asked me to stop the car and got down and somehow fled from there. He is the one who owns all these items and I got stuck in between with no fault of mine”.
