Famous gynaecologist Dr. Deben Sinha is no more; “Barak Valley lost a genius today,” SMCH’s Dr. Babul Bezbaruah

Famous obstetrics & gynecologist from Barak Valley, Dr. Deben Kumar Sinha breathed his last at a private nursing home in Silchar.

Green Heals Hospital in its media statement mentioned that the veteran doctor was brought to the Hospital on January 20 with “intracerebral & intraventricular bleed”. Since then he was treated in the intensive care unit under Dr. Tanushree Deb Gupta and later on Dr Sambuddha Dhar was consulted for neurological interventions. 

Subsequently many eminent doctors were also involved in his treatment. From the date of admission he was under ventilator support system with degrading neurological responses.

“Despite all the efforts and treatment, his neurological conditions could not be improved. Since the morning of January 27, his SPO2 level started to fluctuate, although he was hemodynamically stable. At around 6 pm his SPO2 level further deteriorated and at 6:40 pm he succumbed to his ailments,” added the statement.

Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Babul Bezbaruah expressed his condolences at the death of the senior doctor. “2023 has hit the medical fraternity heard. He was a genius gynaecologist in the region. He wasn’t just a great doctor but along with Dr. Arun Paul Choudhury, he has trained so many gynaecologists under them. With the death of Dr. Sinha, we have lost a great man in this region. He leaves behind gigantic shoes to fill,” asserted Dr. Babul Bezbaruah.

Dr. Sinha leaves behind his wife Padmaja Sinha daughters Priyanka Sinha and Debantina Sinha, Dr Priyadarshni Sinha and son in law Dr. Eden Sinha among thousands of well wishers, friends and patients. 

“Sinha Sir was one of the mentor of our organization and we are fortunate to be guided by his able leadership. All the staff and associates of Green Heals Hospital are grief stricken by his tragic demise. We wholeheartedly convey our deepest condolence to the bereaved family and pray to the Almighty for rest in peace of the departed soul,” Green Heals issued a statement.
