Fatal accident in Karimganj; Truck driver dies on the spot

In a horrible road accident that happened in Karimganj today, a truck got derailed from the road and fell off the cliff, which claimed the life of one individual.

The incident happened on Monday morning at the Sarisha area near the Karimganj bypass, where a truck carrying goods got derailed and fell of the edge of the road. The driver succumbed to the accident and died at the spot before he could’ve been provided with any medical assistance.

According to the Karimganj Traffic police in-charge, Supriya Bhattacharjee, the accident happened at around 10:30 am when the truck was passing through the Sarisha area of Karimganj and was about to take the turn into the bypass route.

“At around 10:30 am, a truck met with a fatal accident near the Karimganj bypass, which claimed the life of the driver. Before any medical assistance could be provided, the driver died at the spot itself. His name was Narayan Debnath, aged 40 years, and S/O Kalipada Debnath of the Karimganj district. Later, the police came and pulled the truck as well as the body out of the pit,” said the Karimganj Traffic Police in-charge.

As of now, the body of the deceased is being kept at the district morgue and will undergo post-mortem according to the police procedure.
