“Favourite” Silchar Sporting bamboozled by Invincible Arunachal SS wins 4 - 0

The “favourites” Silchar Sporting has lost the second match in a row in the Ramanuj Gupta Super Division Football League. Today’s match between Arunachal SS and Silchar Sporting was one of the most awaited matches of this league. Fans were waiting for this match of this Super Division League, which is being held after two years, due to the covid pandemic. In this big Sunday evening match, Silchar Sporting has lost yet another match to Arunachal SS for a whooping 4-0 goals.

In the first match, against Town Club, Sporting conceded four goals to their opponent but could fight well for two goals for themselves. But in today’s match, they got exposed in front of a huge crowd that gathered at SM Dev Stadium. This team neither has a mid-field nor does it have a good forward line. Above that, the defensive line has no understanding with the goalkeeper. Their biggest weakness? Zero coordination and unity between the players, while one player was busy accusing another, Arunachal SS on the other hand, took the best opportunity of this to make them invincible. All these qualities of Sporting might be good for a “gully football” match, but winning a super-division match is next to impossible.

Arunachal SS in their first match had a battling win against the Abhinava Club. Compared to that match, the Mridul Hore Trophy’s Champion team has played really well against the Sporting. The team presented themselves really well and they seemed very compact and in good form.

Excluding the first twenty minutes, Arunachal has dominated the entire match against Sporting. The entire match was in the hands of Thanjik Romgnei, Thangam Singh and Ninthaojam Binam Singh. They had utilised the entire field to earn this victory.

Excluding the first twenty minutes of the match, there’s nothing much to about the Sporting performance in today’s match. Taking the perfect advantage of the defender and goalkeeper’s misunderstanding, at 24 minutes, Rakesh Das has perfectly timed to secure the first goal for SS(1-0). Just after four minutes, they scored another goal. This time by taking the advantage of Rakesh’s through ball, Binsan Nangaithem etched the second goal of this match with his name (2-0).

Even after two goals, the match could change its direction in Sporting’s favour if they wanted. But their body language said otherwise. Even after trailing for two goals, the Sporting didn’t even attempt to form an aggressive attack line. During the injury time of the first half, the man of the match, Thangam Lenin Singh clocked another perfect goal for Arunachal SS and with this, the score was 3-0, in the first half itself. The second half, after this was just played just for the sake of it. Sporting had given up way before. But Arunachal played with full determination and at 88 minutes, there was the last goal of this match (4-0). Due to a misunderstanding between the goalkeep and defender, they couldn’t stop the fourth goal as well. The last goal was from one of the Arunachal’s finest, Ninthaojam Bina Singh. With this, the “over-hyped” team is making their way out of this league.
