Fewer cases but higher deaths; 4 declared dead with Covid at SMCH
The Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) in the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm on July 5, has reported 14 new Covid patients, while also discharging 19 during the same period. The current number of active Covid cases in the SMCH, as of 5 pm July 5, stands at 115. 53 patients are in the ICU and 82 are in the Covid wards. 13 Covid patients are under ventilation support and 77 are under oxygen support.
On July 5, the Cachar district has reported 56 new Covid cases, with 40 of them through RAT and the rest 16 through the RT-PCR test.
What comes as an alarming sign is that, in the last 24 hours, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) has reported four deaths with COVID. M Haloi, aged 35, from Patharkandi of the Karimganj district, was admitted to the SMCH on July 4 and died on the same day at 6:40 pm due to Covid. Gopa Dam, aged 61, from Das Colony area of Silchar, was admitted to the SMCH on June 28 and died on July 4 at 9:05 pm due to Covid.
Hirendra Singha, aged 75, from the Kolarpar area of the Hailakandi district, was admitted to the SMCH on July 4 and died on July 5 at 7 am due to Covid. Misbauddin Choudhury, aged 72, from the Kajidahar part III area of the Cachar district, was admitted to the SMCH on June 30 and died on July 5 at 8:45 am due to Covid.
