Fire breaks in Silchar's Madhurband area, engulfs a residential property: One wounded

A devastating fire erupted in the Madhurband area of Silchar late last night, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The fire, which was reported around midnight, swiftly consumed a residential property, and the owner Sahin Akhtar Mazumdar, a refrigerator mechanic by profession, averted a potential tragedy.

Mazumdar, who was at home alone as his brother was away on professional commitments, had just returned from work and was relaxing in his residence. The evening took a terrifying turn when he noticed sparks emanating from a switched board. Within moments, the sparks transformed into a fierce blaze, engulfing his entire abode.

In a desperate bid to save his life, Mazumdar was forced to flee the inferno, but not without sustaining injuries. One of his hands was severely burned in the process. His narrow escape from the raging flames exemplified his quick thinking and presence of mind during this dire situation.

The fire also resulted in a substantial loss of personal belongings for Mazumdar. According to him, his vital documents, mobile phone, and assets worth approximately Rs 8 lakh were reduced to ashes, leaving him not only physically injured but emotionally distressed.

Local eyewitnesses were the first to notice the blaze and promptly alerted the authorities. Two fire engines, manned by skilled firefighters, were dispatched to the scene. Their swift response and professional expertise played a pivotal role in bringing the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to neighboring properties.
