
Five Drug Peddlers from Nagaon Arrested With Heroin Worth Rs. 3.25 Crore In Cachar
Cachar Police achieved another major success in their ongoing anti-drug drive after seizing a large quantity of heroin worth approximately Rs. 3.25 crore in the Burunga area along the Silchar–Kalain road. Five drug peddlers from Nagaon were arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Cachar Police conducted a search operation in Katigorah’s Burunga area and intercepted a vehicle on suspicion. During the search, police recovered 538 grams of heroin concealed inside the vehicle. According to police sources, the international market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around Rs. 3.25 crore.
Police arrested five persons allegedly involved in the drug trafficking racket on the spot. The accused have been identified as Noor Alam, Abu Talib, Shahbul Islam, Mizanul Haque, and Amar Tarek. All of them are reportedly residents of Nagaon district. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, including provisions related to possession and trafficking of commercial quantities of narcotic substances.
According to police, the accused were allegedly transporting the heroin in a four-wheeler when the vehicle was intercepted. The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated, and police have intensified the investigation to find out whether more people are linked to the network.
