Floating dead body of a minor creates panic in Link Road; Locals suspect sexual assault and murder

The mysterious death of a teenager in the Link Road area of Silchar created panic early morning. The dead body was found in a swamp in the Third Link Road area’s Lane Number 11. The body was seen floating by a local resident in the wee hours of today morning (Wednesday) and at first,  they suspected it to be an object or a puppet. It is still unknown whether it was a suicide or murder, however, the locals allege that it is a rape case and later, the body was dumped in the swamp water.

The incident that unfolded this morning has distressed the locals of the Third Link Road area. A local woman whose door opens to the swamp said, “As I opened the door I saw something floating in the pond. At first, I thought it was some doll but then I called my husband and the people in the neighbourhood. After they came, we went close to see that it was not a doll but a human body. We rang the police who came and intervened in the situation”.

After the police came there, the dead body was recovered from the swamp and the locals could identify her to be from the neighbourhood.

After police intervention on the spot, the body was recovered with local help and is now sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. The investigation into the matter has started. More details awaited.
