Rajdeep Roy led delegation meets CM; Flyover, park, water supply discussed

A delegation led by Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy met chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal yesterday afternoon in the capital of Assam. Silchar MLA Dilip Paul along with many other senior officials from Silchar Municipality Board was a part of the delegation.

The fast deteriorating traffic conditions in Silchar was one of the most discussed topics in the meeting. As per sources, the delegation briefed the chief minister on the traffic condition and proposed flyover as a possible solution. Sources present in the meeting informed us that the CM liked the proposal of building a flyover connecting Sadarghat with Rangirkhari and asked the delegation to make a detailed project on this.

Sources also informed us that in the meeting with Sarbananda Sonowal, SMB chairman, Niharendra Narayan Tagore had shed light on the lack of drinking-water-supply. The chief minister, according to sources, heard Tagore and asked the top official of the concerned department to take immediate action.

The Mini Secretariat was discussed in the meeting and apparently, the CM asked the delegation to ensure that the construction work begins as soon as possible.

After the meeting, Rajdeep Roy posted on his official Facebook page, “CM sir assured us of all help to develop Silchar town and solve the drinking water crisis and expedite the implementation of the AMRUT project.”

It is worth mentioning here that the Municipality election is knocking at the door and it looks like BJP is leaving no stone unturned in its preparation. Silchar residents believe that the flyover can be a lifeline for the city which stands still during peak hours due to traffic congestion. The more the flyover is discussed in these high profile meeting the more excited Silcharians are getting. However, if these discussions are just poll promises as the master-drainage project was, then the city’s voters will definitely get very upset.
