Forest Dept. Rescues Jungle Cat from Sildubi, releases into Bhuban Forest

A jungle cat was rescued from the Sildubi area of Sonai today. The rescued wild cat was found wandering near the house of a local, who called the Forest Department for help. The four legged animal was later released back to a dense forest.

A jungle cat was found wandering near the house of Aktar Hussain in the Sildubi area of Dhanheri in Sonai. Upon realizing the cat to be different from the domesticated ones, he informed the Sonai Forest Office. The youth concerned of the safety decided it was only wise for the cat to be relocated to its natural habitat.

Sonai Forest Ranger, Shibhari Sinha rescued the jungle cat and released it back inside a dense forest. Sinha said, “The cat is really young and probably it wandered off from its mother. But we have rescued the jungle cat safely and will release it into the Bhuban Pahar forest area so that it is unharmed from any human interference”.Jungle cats (Felis Chaus) are small cats that are known to attack humans who get too close to their habitat. Their attacks however doesn’t pose any medical threat, except infection from the wound.
