Forest fire near BSF camp in Borkhola doused after five hours operation

A massive forest fire broke out near the BSF camp in Dholchera, Borkhola, late on Wednesday (February 19) night, triggering panic in the area. The fire rapidly spread across a large portion of the forest, with some sections of the BSF camp also coming under its grip.

Upon receiving the alert, multiple fire tenders rushed to the scene from Silchar and Borkhola, accompanied by the police. BSF personnel from the camp also joined the firefighting efforts.

The remote location of the affected area posed hurdles to the firefighting operations. The teams worked relentlessly for nearly five hours before successfully dousing the flames, preventing further damage to the BSF camp and nearby areas.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, while no homes were under the grip of the spreading forest fire, it caused panic in the nearby areas.
