At his own residence, Samarendra Bhattacharjee was stabbed to death by his own caretaker last night. Suffering from prostate-cancer, Bhattacharjee was set to undergo chemotherapy on Saturday. According to Police officials, at about 12:05 AM late night, Bhattachrjee’s caretaker Sanjay Acharjee stabbed him and escaped from the scene. Bhattacharjee was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital and at about 2:05 AM, he was declared dead by the doctor in charge.

Meanwhile, police managed to nab Acharjee from Silchar Railway station in Tarapur and as per sources he has already confessed the crime. Police also informed us that no case has been registered yet. They are waiting for Bhattacharjee’s sister and brother-in-law to do the same. “So far it looks like an act of vengeance by the 52-year-old Sanjay Acharjee,” said Rakesh Reddy, additional police superintendent. He added, “Acharjee led us to the murder weapon. He told us that he was very unhappy with the way he was treated by Bhattacharjee and that is what frustrated him to do such an act.”

Acharjee has two kids and a family to look after. Bhattacharjee used to often ask him to shut the Pan shop that he build on the ex-principal’s land, “Acharjee told us that Bhattacharjee refused to pay his daily wages (Rs 150) as he was running a shop built on his land,” Reddy added.
