Foundation stone for Soil Testing and Quality Control laboratories laid in Silchar
Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and food processing, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary and Town and country planning Atul Bora laid the foundation stone for Soil Testing and Quality Control laboratories for Cachar Karimganj and Hailakandi districts together in Silchar on Thursday.
Along side Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque Laskar, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, former Union Minister Kabindra Purakayastha, local MLAs and officials of the department, Bora laid the foundation stone for the laboratories and informed that 21 such laboratories shall be opened across the state along with existing six. He also distributed soil Health cards to beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion Bora highlighted the need for working at brisk pace to implement the schemes floated by the Government for beneficiaries.
Meanwhile Bora today inaugurated the new building of the office of District of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department at Speaking on the occasion Bora emphasized on various schemes taken up by the present government for development in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. He said that the farmers should take the advantage of these schemes and for that banks are also giving subsidy on the loan. Expressing concerns over the lack of enthusiasm among farmers of Cachar in practicing double or even multiple cropping, Bora said that such an apathy among the farmers have dragged Cachar far behind other districts of the state.
