Four including a kid died in Hailakandi after holding a tree with electrocuted by live wire

According to the locals, Electricity Department’s carelessness caused the tragic death of four individuals in  Hailakandi, including an infant as well. The incident happened in Bilaipur village in Katlicherra.

The incident happened as a tree branch broke and fell on the ground along with a live electric wire entangled on it According to the locals, a kid who was just four year old accidentally held the branch of the tree leaving him electrocuted. To release the baby, the mother rushed and touched them with her bare hands leaving her affected by the current too.

In a similar manner the father and another neighbour also became a victim of the live wire as current started flowing through the wet ground as well. The deceased were later brought to Hailakandi Civil Hospital for postmortem.

The incident has enraged the villagers of Bilaipur and they have blamed the electricity department for their callousness and lack or responsibility. They mentioned how the brand fell in a residential area and thus took these lives.

A member of the Hailakandi Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti said, “The department is responsible for that, they are very careless and for their lack of responsibility many deaths are reported in Hailakandi due to electrocution. I would like to request the DC of Hailakandi to take action on this matter”.

The deceased in this case have been identified as Sufian Ahmed, the four year old kid, his mother Husainara Begum, the father Rajibul Hussain and neighbour Jahid Hussain.
