Four seriously injured in two separate road accidents on Silchar-Aizawl National Highway

Four people were seriously injured in two separate road accidents on the Silchar-Aizawl National Highway No. 306.

The first accident took place on Wednesday at around 3 pm infront of Rajghat Oriental School in South Dholai under Dholai Police Station area on Silchar-Aizawl National Highway. A speeding Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle going towards Lailapur from Bhagabazar hit a passenger auto coming from the opposite direction while taking a turn. As a result of the head-on collision, 18 year old motorcyclist 18-year-old Aftab Hossain Laskar fell a few feet away on the road. Aftab suffered severe head injuries as he was not wearing a helmet. 48 years old Ramiz Uddin Laskar, a resident of Lailapur, who was a passenger in the auto, also got seriously injured in the accident. Soon after the accident, the local people informed the police about the matter. Lailapur Police Post Incharge Nauchang Siyam arrived at the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Dholai Primary Health Centre. As the condition of both the injured persons were critical, the doctors of Dholai Primary Health Centre sent them to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The Lailapur police have taken the two vehicles involved in the accident into their custody.

Around the same time another terrible accident took place at Dholai’s Ramprasadpur on the Silchar Aizawl-National Highway. A speeding eco van coming towards Bhagabazar from Silchar lost control and rammed into a welding shop on the side of the road. At that time the welding work of a diesel auto was going on in the shop. The auto was completely crushed by the impact of the speeding car. Due to the ensuing accident, a 14-year-old teenager named Arosh Shil and a 24 year old worker of the shop named Vipul Nath got seriously injured.

Immediately after the accident, Sub-Inspector Bidhan Nath and Assistant Sub-Inspector Santosh Kumar Das of Dholai Police Station arrived at the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Medical College. They also took the two vehicles involved in the accident into their custody.
