
Free WiFi is now available at Panchgram and Katakhal Railway station
Giving a boost to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s digital India mission, railway on Saturday installed free Wi-Fi facility in two more stations of Barak Valley, taking the total count of such stations to three. Earlier the facilitIes was only available at Silchar station.
The two new stations where free WiFi facility has been provided are Katakhal and Panchgram. Sources have also informed that soon 4 more stations will be included in the list.
RailTel, a government of India undertaking, is the agency for this work and is working round the clock to provide free WiFi service at all railway stations of the country.
Along with the A1 and A grade stations, the free WiFi facility is also being provided to very small stations catering to mainly rural or low population density areas, with an aim to provide the rural population with state-of-the-art high-speed WiFi service.
NF Railway has targeted to install free WiFi in all the stations under its jurisdiction by the end of this month.
