Fresh cases drop below 100 in Cachar, 2 dead in SMCH; 39 positive in Karimganj, Hailakandi 13
For the first time since crossing the 100-mark during the second wave of coronavirus infections, the number has again dropped below 100 in Cachar. On Sunday, according to the numbers shared by the Cachar district administration, 98 fresh cases were reported in Cachar. 54 samples have tested positive on RAT out of the 3,745 samples tested. On RAT, the positivity rate stands at 1.44%. 44 samples have tested positive on RT-PCR.
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that currently, there are 135 patients under treatment in the COVID wards of the hospital. 78 are in ICU, 11 are on ventilator support, 96 are on Oxygen support. 23 patients took admission to the hospital on Sunday while 17 were discharged.
Dr. Gupta informed that two individuals died with COVID in the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 PM on June 20, 2021. 70-year-old Dhananjay Das a resident of Dharamkhal Cachar, and was admitted to the hospital on June 18, and on June 20, 11:20 am, he breathed his last. Pradeep Tanti from Labak Tea Estate was admitted to the hospital on June 3 and on June 20, at 3:00 pm he breathed his last.
In the Karimganj district, 1,805 samples were tested and 39 samples tested positive. Currently, there are 996 active cases in the district. In Hailakandi district, 13 individuals tested positive out of 619 samples tested. There are 571 active cases in the district.
