Gautam Roy celebrates BJP victory; raises Jai Shree Ram slogan in Hailakandi
The voters of India gave BJP a historic mandate in the general election of the 17th Lok Sabha. The party’s supporters celebrated the mandate with excitement all across the country. In Barak Valley too, the voters bestowed their trust on BJP by electing Rajdeep Roy from Silchar and Kripanath Mallah from Karimganj. The celebrations were noticed all across the valley.
But, one celebration that caught many Hailakandi residents by surprise was in Katlicherra. Former minister in government of Assam and veteran Congress leader, Gautam Roy joined the celebrations, going on to acknowledge BJP’s victory in his constituency.
Roy himself went to a nearby sweet shop, bought Jalebi (Indian sweet) and distributed it among the people celebrating there. Roy happily even allowed people to put the saffron colour on him. Soon the cadres started raising slogans “Gautam Roy Zindabad” to recognise the Congress stalwart, but, Roy interrupted them and asked to raise “Jai Shree Ram” slogans instead.
The workers screamed “Jai Shree Ram” and Roy joined too
