GM Sanjive Roy, Silchar MP inaugurate Digital museum video wall at Silchar station

The ‘digital museum video wall’ was inaugurated at the Silchar railway station on Wednesday, in the presence of NF Railway General Manager, Sanjive Roy, DRM of Lumding Division Ram Bahadur Rai, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy and Railway PAC member Amaresh Roy. The video wall which has been put up on the entrance of the station, will showcase the rich heritage of Indian railways and other information related to rail travellers.

“Such video walls are not present in most of the stations. Since Silchar holds a lot of importance, it was chosen for the project” GM Sanjive Roy said while addressing a gathering at Silchar Railway station.

Later after the inauguration, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy and GM Sanjive Roy sat for a formal meeting along with the DRM of Lumding division and other railway authorities. Cachar BJP president Kaushik Rai and Karimganj BJP President Subhrata Bhatt were also present during the meeting.

Briefing the media about the minutes of the meeting, MP Rajdeep Roy said that last month a meeting was called by the General Manager of NF Railway at Guwahati but he could not attend due to a prefixed schedule. He then requested the GM to once visit Silchar and if possible they will sit for a meeting at here. “Responding to the request, GM Sanjive Roy today came here and this meeting was held” Roy said.

Sharing the details of the meeting, Rajdeep Roy said that a layout has been prepared to redevelop the entire Silchar station within the next few months. “It will include installation of two lifts, passenger shed extension in East and West direction of the station, CCTV installation, setting up a plastic bottle crusher and installation of a 100 ft National flag in front of the railway station. A total of 8-10 crore of budget have been fixed for the work.” MP Rajdeep Roy said while addressing the mediamen there.

Apart from these, introduction of Silchar Guwahati & Silchar Agartala Intercity/ Shatabdi Express, opening of a food plaza at Silchar station was also discussed during the meeting. “We kept forward two new demands towards the railway i.e. Construction of an alternate ‘Greater Silchar Railway station’ outside the Silchar town, thinking the future expansion of Silchar and another is Chandranathpur Lanka alternative rail route.” Rajdeep Roy mentioned.

On asking about the corruption charges against a railway employee who was found guilty of corruption by the anti-fraud committee at Silchar Station, the GM of NFR replied that the matter is under investigation and they will intensify checks for irregularities in Tatkal ticket reservation system. “We definitely have zero tolerance towards corruption and we do not encourage anybody indulging in corruption” the GM said.
