Goat gives birth to a humanoid kid in Cachar; people baffled, it’s a congenital disorder – says experts
A goat in Amraghat has given birth to a humanoid kid, making the local villagers curious. The incident occurred in Nandubasti under Ganganagar area of Dhalai; a goat belonging to Shankar Das gave birth to a stillborn kid on Sunday; the kid was deformed, which resembles the shape of a newborn human kid. After some time, that goat gave birth to another kid, which was normal and is alive. Local people gathered in Shankar Das’s residence to see the deformed goat kid; few among them took a picture of that kid and posted it on social media. However, the deformed, stillborn goat kid was buried underground.
There are other such instances recorded and reported from different parts of India where cattle animals, especially Cow, Buffalo, and Goat, gave birth to deformed offspring that resembled human faces and appearances. People in such cases act superstitiously; they tend to believe some kind of divinity behind the delivery of such offspring. They start to offer puja and rituals to these kids. Even in some instances, people think that human-animal intercourse can result in such humanoid kids of cattle. Still, there is no scientific truth behind this claim, says Professor Parthangkar Choudhury of Ecology Department, Assam University. Professor Choudhury explained that this happens due to congenital disabilities known as ‘Fetel Anasartha’.
In this biological condition, the developing fetus in the mother’s womb accumulates fluid in different parts and organs of the body, including the face. As a result, the face and limbs of the fetus are swallowed, which gives the fetus a human infant-like appearance. Fetel Anasartha is one of the many birth defects found in the mammal. Experts have suggested the goat suffers from a rare congenital disability known as cyclopia, in which genes that, under normal circumstances, create facial symmetry fail.
