Govt. offices and educational institutes to remain shut on August 17 as a mark of respect to Atal Bihari Vajpayee
All government and semi government institutions and offices to remain shut tomorrow. The Government of India has just announced about the development. This is to pay respect to the former prime minister of India Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Through an official communication, it has been announced that seven days of state mourning will be observed throughout India. The letter states, “As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, it has been decided that seven days of state mourning will be observed throughout India from 16.8.2018 to 22.8. 2018 both days inclusive. During the period the national flag will be flown half mast throughout India where it is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment during the period of state mourning.”
It added, “It has also been decided that the state funeral will be accorded to Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Please inform all concerned accordingly. Further government of Assam has declared state holiday as a mark of respect to the former prime minister of India. All state govt. offices, semi govt offices, public sector undertakings, corporations, boards, educational institutions etc will remain closed on 17th August 2018.”
