Grand Welcome for Ministers Kaushik-Krishnendu: Pledge Valley’s Development
After assuming ministerial positions, Patharkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul and Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai arrived in Barak Valley for the first time today. In the morning, hundreds of party workers and supporters warmly welcomed the two ministers of Barak at Silchar’s Kumbhirgram Airport. From the airport, they were escorted to the BJP office in Silchar amidst a grand procession. Along the way, party workers greeted the ministers with felicitation ceremonies at various points.
A reception will be held for the two ministers at the Cachar District BJP office in Silchar. Following this, Minister Krishnendu Paul will head to his constituency, Patherkandi in Sribhumi, while Minister Kaushik Rai will proceed to Lakhipur.
Both Kaushik Rai and Krishnendu Paul took oath of office and secrecy on December 7 in Guwahati in the presence of the Governor of Assam and Chief Minister Himata Biswa Sarma. Their portfolios were declared on December 9. Before that, on December 7, a new department was created to steadfast the development works of Barak Valley, named the “Barak Valley Development Department”, and Kaushik Rai was made the minister of this department. Along with that, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Mines and Minerals were added to his portfolio.
While, Patherkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul was appointed the Minister of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fishery, PWD (PMGSY).
On Thursday morning, December 12, speaking outside Kumbhrigram airport, Minister Kaushik Rai said, “After taking oath as ministers I had the chance to attend two cabinet meetings along with my colleague Krishnendu Paul and other honourable members of the cabinet, along with CM Dr Himata Biswa Sarma. Chief Minister has created a new, Barak Valley Development Department for the development of this valley and I along with Krishnendu Paul, will try our best to take forward the schemes for the development of this valley”.
Minister Krishnendu Paul said, “We are elated to see people from the entire Barak Valley who had come to welcome us. I am indebted. We will work together for the development of the people of this valley along with the entire Assam and give our best efforts to achieve the goals set by our government by 2026”.
Following the grand welcome at Kumbhirgam airport, the two ministers marched towards Silchar in a bike rally and roadshow. After a brief halt at the Zero-Point of the East-West Corridor at Rongpur, the ministers paid floral tributes to the statute of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. They were welcomed with garlands and felicitations at the district office of the Bharatiya Janata Party at Itkhola.
