Green Corridor in Silchar: Ambulance travels on free road to airports, Istak Ahmed Mazumdar airlifted
Businessman Istak Rasool Mazumdar was admitted to Green Heals Hospital in Silchar after he tested positive for COVID19. His condition deteriorated and the family decided to transfer him to Kolkata for better treatment.
Son of retired Joint Director Health – Hailakandi, Dr. Abed Rasool Mazumdar, Istak is 33-year-old. The family decided to arrange for an air ambulance and initially wanted to shift him to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata. But after consultation with doctors, he was transferred to AMRI Hospital.
So that the Ambulance could pass through the town without getting stuck in traffic jams, Cachar district administration had turned the town’s main roads into green corridor. From Green Heals Hospital in Meherpur to Kumbirgram Airport, the ambulance was escorted by officials from Assam Police.
“His condition is a little stable which made him fit to fly. That is when the family decided to arrange for an air ambulance and transfer him to Kolkata,” informed Dr. Munim Rasool Mazumdar.
He added, “We are thankful to the district administration and Cachar Police who converted the town into a green corridor.”
