Green Heals Hospital opens COVID ward, starts treating positive patients.

Green Heals Hospital in Meherpur becomes the first private nursing home in Barak Valley to launch a COVID ward. The director of the hospital and industrialist, Rudra Narayan Gupta formally inaugurated the ward today and dedicated it to his father, Dr. Rahul Gupta.

The COVID ward started operation today with 12 beds and four Intensive Care Units. In the first day itself, a number of patients took admission. “There is a lot of stigma in society, most of it is baseless. We know that our decision to treat symptomatic COVID patients is a risky one. People with other diseases will now not feel safe to visit Green Heals. But being a hospital, it is our responsibility to play a larger role during the pandemic,” said Gupta.

Green Heals claims to have a setup that can treat symptomatic and critical patients too. Gupta informed that two doctors who are sons of Barak Valley but have settled in America and London will guide the resident medical officers in this fight against COVID.

“We keep reading about people not volunteering in the testing process. This is due to the fear of visiting Silchar Medical College and Hospital. We want to emerge as a trustworthy nursing home. I hope this will also encourage people to get tested for the virus,” Gupta added.

To make the ward equipped enough to treat critical COVID patients, the hospital had to make some investment. COVID treatment in Green Heals Hospital will cost patients around Rs 5000 per day for normal beds and additional for ICU and oxygen therapy.
