Gyan Mela 2019: Demand for science museum at Udharbond

With the vision to encourage students towards science and technology, a science exhibition cum convention — Gyan Mela 2019 was organised at Practicing Government Senior Basic School at Udharbond in Cachar district on Monday.
The event, which started around 11am this morning, witnessed a large number of students besides personalities from different circles. The mela was inaugurated by Udharbond legislator Mihir Kanti Shome. Speaking on the occasion, Shome said science is a very important subject and students need to be taught about its application in practical aspects of life. He lauded the initiative of organising the programme saying it would help in overall development of the young minds.
Udharbond block elementary education officer and convener of the exhibition Jayanti Paul Senapati sought the co-operation of Shome so that a science museum can be set up at Udharbond. In response, Shome assured his help regarding the matter.
Altogether, 15 schools participated in the exhibition with their creative models on various topics of science and mathematics like sustainable energy, water resources management, volcanic eruption, condensation, water cycle and others.
Besides, there was a quiz competition in which nine teams participated. The event concluded with the valedictory session followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
