Hailakandi Police arrests SS College asst prof Jamir Choudhury for defamatory emails to CM and Gunotsav

Hailakandi Police has arrested a Faculty of Srikishan Sarada College today for sending out malicious mail to Chief Minister and Education Minister of Assam.

Hailakandi Police detained Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy Jamir Ahmed Choudhury from the college campus and took him to Sadar police station for further investigation.

Superintendent of Police of Hailakandi district informed that professor Jamir Choudhury has been arrested for multiple offence one of which is sending out mail maligning CM and Education Minister and the image of ‘Gunotsav’.

According to the SP, Gaurav Upadhyay, Jamir Choudhury made his son, who is a student of class 4, a petitioner, and sent mail criticising the education system of Assam, Education Minister and Chief Minister of the state.

SP Upadhyay informed that the faculty member used unparliamentary phrases against the chief minister and then state in his emails. His emails, SP Upadhyay said, “praised” Islamic System of Education.

SP Upadhyay said that faculty Choudhury was trying to create communal disturbances by inciting religious sentiments.

Cyber Cell of Hailakandi Police station got hold of the mails and intimated SP regarding the same, then Hailakandi Police took Suo Moto cognizance of the incident and detained Professor Choudhary from SS College.

“He exploited his son, who is not even an adult. He tried to incite religious disturbances and he maligned images of the government and its schemes using uncivilized words, he has been arrested for offences on multiple ground,” said SP Hailakandi.

In this context it is to be mentioned that Delhi Police has also arrested a History Professor of Delhi University on the ground of hurting religious sentiment by posting on the issue of Gyanvapi Mosque – Shivling issue.
