Five youths have been detailed by Hailakandi Police for performing dangerous motorbike stunts on the National Highway in the district. This is a fresh development after the Special DGP of Assam Police tweeted to inform police directly about any individual indulging in bike stunts on the main roads. Hailakandi SP Nabaneet Mahanta detained these five stunt performers last evening and later released them after counselling this morning.

Those five bikers who were detained were not only performing those dangerous stunts but were also sharing the videos online. Based on those viral videos, the police detained these five individuals on the evening of December 18.

Hailakandi SP APS Nabaneet Mahanta said, “What happens with such stunt is that, those who’re doing this, they not just injure themselves but also the passersby, vehicles and pedestrians. We have observed that some youths post those stunt videos online and even ask people to contact them if others want to join. We got the information about those videos and accordingly detained five people”.

The APS officer further said, “We have counselled them and sensitised them on how dangerous this can be. We have also informed their parents to let them know what their sons are up to. We have also asked them to delete all the stunt videos that they have shared online. After they assured us that, they won’t continue this further, we let them go this morning”.

The police officer has also said, if any stunt activities continue in the district, the police will take strict actions against those involved. The five individuals detained by the police are Amin Laskar, Abdur Rahman Laskar, Fakrul Islam Laskar, Abdul Aziz and Ikbal Hussain Mazumder.
