Hailakandi Police traces Suraj Nath and Rezwana in Telangana

Hailakandi Police in association with Telangana counterparts successfully traced Barak Valley girl Rezwana Hasan (name changed) and Suraj Nath from Secunderabad. On June 5, 2019, while Eid was observed all over India, a minor girl studying in a private school in Hailakandi’s Lala area went missing. Her father lodged a missing diary in Rajeshwarpur Police outpost.

Moments later, the locals started alleging that a teacher of the same school Rezwana was studying, kidnapped her. Many student associations, teachers and local residents started protesting, their demand was an immediate arrest of Suraj Nath.

A team of Hailakandi Police led by sub-inspector Tridip Bora reached Telangana and managed to trace both of them yesterday. Bora was accompanied by, Fazlur Rahman Laskar, Kamrul Islam and lady constable Debasree Nag. As per available information, Police traced Rezwana and Suraj Nath’s location by tracking their mobile phone.

It is informed that the spokesperson of the organisation, which was leading the agitation demanding immediate arrest of Suraj Nath, got a call from an unknown number. The spokesperson was asked to call off the agitation immediately or he would be mercilessly murdered. Police tracked that call and traced Suraj Nath and Rezwana from a small rented room in Secunderabad

Though initially it was registered as a kidnapping case, at this stage, it looks like a love affair between two individuals belonging to different religions. Police sources informed us that both Nath and Rezwana are expected to be brought to Hailkandi by Wednesday.

What actions are taken post that remains to be seen…
