Hailakandi School girl critically injured after jumping from moving auto as driver attempted to kidnap her; Students block highway in protest

In Hailakandi’s Algapur constituency, an auto driver attempted to kidnap a school girl. The victim girl was en route to JB ME School, located in the Chiparsangan area of Algapur, Hailakandi district. Instead of dropping her off in front of the school, the driver started speeding. Sensing trouble, the girl jumped from the moving vehicle and sustained critical injuries.

The locals rushed her to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. The driver and passenger of the auto were chased down and apprehended by local residents. The incident was reported to the Algapur police station, prompting a team of policemen to arrive at the scene and take the auto driver and the other individual into custody in connection with the attempted kidnapping.

The incident has sparked outrage, and the students of the school protested by blocking National Highway No. 6, causing significant traffic congestion. The victim’s condition remains critical, and the authorities are investigating the matter.
